Dr Wielgosz is the Director of the Chemistry Department of the International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM), he also holds the roles of Executive Secretary of the Consultative Committee for Amount of Substance; metrology in chemistry and biology (CCQM) and the Joint Committee for Traceability in Laboratory Medicine (JCTLM). He has contributed to over sixty publications related to measurement science. He holds an M.A. in the Natural Sciences from Emmanuel College, Cambridge University (UK), a Ph.D. from the University of Bath (UK) and completed his Royal Society European Exchange Fellowship at the University of Ulm (Germany).
