Elvar Theodorsson

Born in 1953 in Reykjavik, Iceland, Elvar Theodorsson received his M.D. degree in 1978 from the University of Iceland and his license as a specialist in clinical pathology (Clinical chemistry) at Karolinska Hospital in Stockholm in 1985. He gained his Ph.D. from the Department of Pharmacology, Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, in 1983. He became an associate professor at the Karolinska Institute in 1986 and a Professor of Neurochemistry at the University of Linkoping in 1995. His main research interests include the neuroendocrinology of regulatory peptides and neurosteroids and applied metrology in Clinical chemistry. Elvar Theodorsson has served in working group- and/or leadership roles, e.g., in the Swedish Society for Clinical Chemistry (SFKK), the European Union of Medical Specialists (U.E.M.S.) Section and Board of Laboratory Medicine, the European Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (EFLM), the International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (IFCC), Eurachem, and the Joint Committee for Traceability in Laboratory Medicine (JCTLM) and in the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI).
